Funny Mothers Day Poems and Quotes To Wish Your Mother

Let me guess... you're looking for a nice message to write in a Mothers day card, but you don't want a sappy love poem because that's just not you or your Mom's style. So, you thought a funny Mothers Day poem would be just the thing.

I know where you're coming from, because that's exactly what I was looking for a little while ago. So, I scoured the web to find the best poems for mothers day that would make nice card messages. I must have looked at hundreds of poems, and in the end there were just a handful of poems that made the cut, plus some originals that my friend Holly wrote. I hope you like them and that one of them is perfect for your Mom!

Funny Mothers Day Poem Collection

Put Up With Me
I'm glad that you're my mother,
kind and caring and strong.
Coz surely no-one else,
Could have put up with me this long!
Ed: I think this one's my favorite. Probably because it's true.
Month of May
For all the diapers
that you changed,
For all the play dates
you arranged.

For all the trips
back and forth to school,
For cleaning all the spit up
and the drool.

Why is there only
one Mother's Day?
You could have at least gotten
the ENTIRE month of May.

Happy Mother's Day Mom!
You Know Me
Mum you know the worst of me,
My weaknesses and follies,
I know you've seen me poop my pants
and cut the heads off dollies,

You know all my most embarrassing moments,
You know that I'm a nut,
So what can I do to repay your love..
...and make sure you keep your mouth shut!?
You Love my Art
Dear Mum...
I love that you loved all my "art",
You told me it was beautiful,
You told me it was smart,

You loved my pottery and painting,
And my popsicle stick bridge
But don't you think it's long enough ago now,
To take it off the fridge?

Relax, Mom
As a mom you are number one
A parent who is second to none
On Mothers day, chores you should shun
For it is time for relaxation and fun
Even if at the end of the day nothing gets done
Just remember we will still love you a ton!
Nobel Prize for Mothers
Mom you are a shining star
Though the world doesn't know your name.
You have no fancy title
Like Baroness or Dame.

Mom you really are a star,
My mother, mentor and friend.
A Nobel Prize for motherhood,
Is what I'd recommend!

And if I won the lottery
I’d share my win with you
I'd take you Mom on a spending spree
Each day the whole year through!

You may not be famous,
As your face is known to few.
But Mom I think you are wonderful
And I'm so proud of you!
For the Mom Who Does Everything
Mom, I know you do the dishes
And I know you cook the food
I know you scrub down all the floors
Even when you're in a bad mood.

And every night you walk the dog
While I'm watching all my shows
On Thursday's you take out the trash
And every spring you wash the windows.

Mom, I know you're sad I'll go someday
And leave you all alone
But right now I'm only 35
So what other place could I call home?
Mothers Who are No Longer Among Us
(These are in memory of my own dear mother who passed away in the autumn of the year 2000. She is still deeply missed.)

In tears we saw you sinking,
And watched you pass away.
Our hearts were almost broken,
We wanted you to stay.
But when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, free from pain,
How could we wish you back with us,
To suffer that again.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.

If Roses grow in Heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

Don't think of her as gone away
Her journey's just begun
Life holds so many facets
This earth is only one
Just think of her as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years
Think how she must be wishing
That we could know, today
Now nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she is loved so very much.
